Keichō chōgin
AD 1601–1695 ・ silver ・ 17th century ・ Fushimi and Edo silver mints (Daikoku Jōze)
A weighed silver currency cast at the Fushimi silver mint in the sixth year of Keichō. There is no face value; the weight on the balance is the value itself. The guide was one sheet of silver = 43 monme, about 160 grams. The fineness is 80 per cent. The character 'hō' and the figure of Daikoku stand beside the name of Daikoku Jōze, whose house held the punching office by inheritance. It was made up to weight with mameita-gin and used wrapped in paper, as tsutsumi-gin.
