A small weighed silver piece cast at the same fineness as chōgin. Most are lighter than 10 monme, and in daily payment they went on the balance at every transaction. They were also added to chōgin to make up 43 monme, then wrapped in paper and sealed. This piece carries the punch 'gen' marking the Genroku recoinage, and served as the smallest unit of life in Edo.
