- Article 3: Prepaid Payment Instruments = Vouchers, numbers, symbols (including electronic records) issued in exchange for consideration, which can be used for payment of consideration to the issuer, etc.
- Article 2, Paragraph 5: Electronic Payment Instruments = Currency-denominated assets that can be used for payment of consideration to unspecified persons and can be bought and sold with unspecified persons, and can be transferred via an electronic data processing system (excluding securities, prepaid payment instruments, etc.). Includes specified trust beneficial interests.
- Article 2, Paragraph 14: Crypto-assets = Electronically recorded proprietary value that can be used for payment of consideration to unspecified persons and can be bought and sold with unspecified persons, excluding Japanese currency, foreign currencies, currency-denominated assets, and electronic payment instruments.
- Article 2, Paragraph 15: Crypto Asset Exchange Services = The buying, selling, or exchange of crypto-assets; intermediation thereof; management of users' money; and management of crypto-assets for others.
- Article 14: When the unused balance on the base date exceeds the base amount specified by a Cabinet Order, an issuer of prepaid payment instruments must deposit an issuance security deposit equivalent to at least one-half of that amount.
