Privacy policy

NOMISMA

NOMISMA (operated by Convoy Switch Inc., Representative Director: Yasuhiro Okazaki; “we”) handles personal information only as far as needed to provide our learning service.

Information we collect

The email address, name and password you give when registering (the password is stored only as an irreversible hash, never in plain text).

Your learning records (answers to questions, self-assessments, progress, texts you wrote and sent in a course), and the content of enquiries and refund requests (including, for those who paid by bank transfer, the bank account for the refund).

For email sign-up on the non-Japanese versions: your email address, language, the date and time of your consent, and the text shown when you consented.

If you add our LINE official account (Japanese version) as a friend: the user identifier and display name that LINE notifies to us.

Payment information

Card payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. Card numbers never reach or are stored on our servers.

For bank transfers, we keep the payer name and the record of receipt to match payments.

Purposes of use

Providing the learning service (managing purchases, saving progress, running the feature for reading what you wrote with other readers), responding to enquiries and refund requests, and sending important notices.

Sending news of new readings and courses to those who have signed up (by LINE on the Japanese version, by email on the other versions).

Analytics to understand how the site is used.

Information we pass to other companies

We pass only the information each needs for its purpose to the following companies.

Stripe, Inc. (USA): information needed for card payments.

Resend, Inc. (USA): the recipient’s email address and the content of the email, to send emails.

LY Corporation (Japan): to send news through our LINE official account. LINE’s own terms of use and privacy policy also apply to adding friends and exchanging messages.

Google LLC (USA): cookies and browsing records (including device information such as the IP address) for analytics with Google Analytics (GA4).

Apart from these, we do not provide personal information to third parties except where required by law. We never sell personal information.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to save your language and display settings. These are essential to the service.

We may also use cookies for analytics with Google Analytics.

If you access the site from the EEA (the EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), the UK or Switzerland, we ask for your consent in the consent box shown on screen before using analytics cookies. Until you consent, we do not load the analytics and send no browsing records. You can change your choice at any time from “Cookie settings” at the bottom of each page. We judge which region you are accessing from by the country information added by the network route (Cloudflare).

International transfers

Of the companies above, Stripe, Inc., Resend, Inc. and Google LLC are companies in the United States of America. Information passed to them is handled in the United States.

The United States has no comprehensive federal law on the protection of personal information corresponding to Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information. It has federal laws for particular fields (such as finance, health and children’s information) and state laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act).

Each company handles the information under the data-processing terms it publishes. LY Corporation is a company in Japan.

How we protect information

Passwords are stored in a form that cannot be turned back (a hash), and the original is not stored.

For those who paid by bank transfer, the bank account for the refund is stored encrypted. Only our representative and the person in charge of refunds can see the account details. Seeing them requires a separate viewing password, and every viewing is recorded. Once the refund is done, we delete the account information.

The admin screen is protected by a password, and communication with the site is encrypted (HTTPS).

Retention and deletion

If you ask to leave, we delete your account and learning records, except what we must keep by law.

You can stop email sign-up at any time from the unsubscribe link in our emails. After that, we send no more news emails. You can also ask us to delete the sign-up record.

Your rights

You can ask us to disclose, correct, delete or stop using your information, and withdraw your consent. Please write to [email protected].

If you live in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you may also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.
