In the latter half of the 19th century, the previous real system was reformed and this currency was established. It was designed to align with the standards of other European nations, with the intention of cross-border circulation from the outset.
⚠ The nation that had once controlled the silver of the New World and issued global currency was now on the side of conforming to the standards of others. The evolution of a currency's name also reflects the evolution of its nation's standing.
