A public system that protects depositors' money up to a certain amount in the event of a bank failure.

United States 1929 / Across America, before the bank doors

In Japan, the limit is 10 million yen of principal per financial institution, plus interest accrued up to the date of failure. In the United States, it is 250,000 dollars; in the European Union, 100,000 euros; and in the United Kingdom, 120,000 pounds. ⚠ Amounts exceeding the limit and ineligible deposits are not guaranteed to be fully returned.
