Cupronickel coins excessively minted from 1892 to 1904. The face value was 2 chon 5 fun. They became a major cause of inflation during the port-opening period. In the currency reform project starting in July 1905, they were assessed and graded A, B, or C based on quality. Grade B coins were exchanged for less than half their face value, while Grade C coins were refused for exchange, causing owners to lose a significant amount of their wealth. The coin pictured is dated the 2nd year of Gwangmu (1898).
