20 Kronen Gold Coin (dated 1915)
Dated 1915 ・ gold ・ 19th century ・ Vienna

A gold coin of the gold-standard Krone, introduced with the reform of 1892. Based on the definition of one kilogram of pure gold being equal to 3280 Kronen, a single 20 Kronen coin contains approximately six grams of pure gold. The obverse features a profile of Franz Joseph, and the reverse shows a double-headed eagle. The 1915 issue was also officially restruck in later years, so the date does not necessarily indicate the year of striking. It is a tangible piece of evidence from the era of the golden Krone that one can hold in the palm of their hand.
