The coat of arms of a double-headed eagle looking to the East and West simultaneously. It was inherited from Byzantium by Russia and the Holy Roman Empire and was long used as a design on coinage. In Russia, it disappeared from coins in 1917, and an eagle with different details returned after 1992.
