Miniassegni
1975–1978 ・ paper ・ 20th century ・ Local banks across Italy
Small cheques of 50 to 200 lire issued by banks all over Italy in the coin-starved late 1970s, used as de facto private paper money for making change. People took their coffee change in little slips printed with a bank's name. When money runs short, the market makes something money-like of its own.
