Katoku-sōzoku (house succession)

家督相続 / primogeniture-japan — Institutions

A form of inheritance in pre-war Japan where the eldest son solely inherited the position of the head of the household and its property.

A scene for the related term “Zaibatsu” — South Korea November 21st / Chaebol Headquarters

The family control of the zaibatsu was based on this form of inheritance. This system ended with the post-war revision of the Civil Code (according to historical tax documents from the National Tax Agency).
