A method of making coins with rolling and striking machines. It added a reeded edge to prevent clipping and ended a thousand years of hammered coinage.

A manufacturing method using rolling mills and screw presses to make coins. It introduced a reeded edge to prevent clipping, and its full adoption by the English Mint in 1662 ended a thousand years of hammered coinage.

⚠ The machinery not only eliminated counterfeiting and clipping, but also manufactured trust itself—the certainty that identical things could be reliably produced.
