A group of coins buried together and found together.
⚠ In plain terms, a 'buried accumulation'. Many were hidden to escape the turmoil of war, and their owners never returned.
A single hoard contains the coins that were actually in use at that time and place, in the same proportions as they were used. It becomes a specimen that captures a cross-section of circulation as it was.
