Declaration of Renunciation of Inheritance

Claims Supported by This Source

  1. To renounce an inheritance, you must file a declaration with the Family Court.
  2. The declaration must be made within 3 months from the time you become aware that the inheritance has commenced for you.
  3. The declaration should be filed with the Family Court in the jurisdiction of the decedent's last known address.
  4. If you cannot obtain the necessary materials to make a decision within 3 months, the Family Court can extend the period upon a petition for extension.
