A 20 million lira banknote, with its issue date cited as either November 2000 or 2001. At the time, it was the highest denomination in the world. The obverse features Atatürk and a dove of peace; the reverse, the ancient city of Ephesus. It represents the culmination of half a century of chronic inflation, a period where the more beautiful the banknote's design, the larger its denomination grew.
