28.0668 grams, .833 fineness. The pure silver content of 23.386 grams is the weight set by the convention of 1753. Even after the Empress died in 1780, all coins continued to be struck with this date. It served as the key silver currency from the Red Sea to the Ethiopian Highlands for two hundred years. The inscription includes BO (Bohemia) and TYR (Tyrol)——both the valley of the name and the valley of the shape are engraved. The Vienna Mint still strikes this silver coin today. It is not possible to determine the year of minting by looking at the date.
