1 Rupee of William IV

A one rupee silver coin issued by the East India Company in 1835. Sources state: silver .917, diameter 30.5 mm, thickness 1.7 mm, weight 11.54 grams, Calcutta Mint, mintage 69,472,000. The obverse inscription reads WILLIAM IIII, KING; the reverse has ONE RUPEE, the Persian script یک روپیہ, and EAST INDIA COMPANY. The name of the Mughal Emperor was removed from the coin, replaced by the profile of the British monarch. In the same year, the standard for silver coinage in the East India Company's territories was unified.
