10 Naya Paisa (1961)

A 10 naya paisa coin from 1961. The specifications are the same as the coin of the same denomination from 1959: cupronickel, scalloped shape, 23 mm in diameter, and 4.9 grams in weight. The naya paisa series lasted from 1957 to 1963. Once the decimal system was widely adopted, it was no longer necessary to specify 'new', and from 1964 onwards, the word 'naya' was removed from the coin's inscription, becoming simply 'paisa'. When the newness disappears from the name, the system has taken root.
