Rupee of Aurangzeb (from a shipwreck)

A silver rupee of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The source notes: Surat mint, 1113 AH, regnal year 46 (1702 AD), 25 mm, 10.34 grams, KM 300.86. This particular coin was recovered from a shipwreck off the Great Basses Reef, Sri Lanka. It was recovered by the author Arthur C. Clarke. Surat was the largest trading port of the Mughal Empire. Silver struck there was loaded onto a ship, sank into the sea, and returned to human hands after three centuries.
