A two anna coin from 1947. The legend is still GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR. In August of that year, India and Pakistan became independent. Nevertheless, the coin's design did not change immediately. The mints had to re-engrave the dies, and the old coins continued to circulate until they were withdrawn. The day the system changed and the day the metal in one's hand changed were not the same day.
