A 2017 gold sovereign. Photographed in its Royal Mint issue card, the image shows the reverse with St. George and the Dragon, with the letter I beside the date. In 1998, on the bicentenary of Nathan's arrival in England, an official history of the firm was commissioned and an exhibition was held at the Museum of London. The archive's bulletin notes that even this official history included the legend of Waterloo. The source of the rumour was a pamphlet printed in Paris in 1846, in which a numbered letter dated 20 June 1815 indicated the messenger's whereabouts. A gold coin engraved with the same St. George, and ledgers re-examined through historical documents.
