Five francs of Louis-Philippe

This five-franc silver coin is cut with the profile of Louis-Philippe in a laurel wreath. He came to the throne after the July Revolution of 1830 through the work of the great banker Jacques Laffitte and others, and was called the citizen king, the king of the bourgeoisie. It is the silver of a monarchy resting not on divine right but on the bourgeoisie of property, trade and industry, and above all on the bankers. The Germinal standard did not move; what changed was only the face cut into the coin.
