reverse
A décime of the Dupré type, struck at the Strasbourg mint under the Directory. The décime, worth ten centimes, was a unit of the decimal system. In the dechristianisation campaign of the autumn of 1793, church metal that had been seized was melted down for the costs of war, and bronze bells became cannon. Where the metal of this piece came from has not been confirmed. It bears the figure of the Republic from the hand of Dupré.
