The Russian name for a thaler. It is a corruption of "Joachim," the first part of the name Joachimsthaler. Large Western European silver coins flowed into eastern markets under this name.

⚠ The name of the valley (Thaler) went west to become the dollar, while the name of the person (Joachim) went east to become the efimok. This was a fork in the road for the name of the same silver coin.
