Rhenish Gulden

ライン・グルデン / Rhenish gulden — Names of money

A gold coin jointly issued by the Rhenish Electors under a monetary union. A model of "bottom-up" monetary integration.

Germany The gold gulden / The Rhine valley, the lands of the prince-electors

A gold coin jointly issued by the Rhenish Electors, who formed a monetary union. It became the standard gold coin of southwestern Germany and demonstrated a model of "bottom-up monetary integration" based on the agreement of princes, rather than imposed from above by the Empire.

⚠ Monetary union is not a modern invention. A small Eurozone already existed in the medieval Rhineland.
