- The people of Shu found iron coins heavy and inconvenient for trade, so Jiaozi was created, mainly handled by sixteen wealthy households. The Yizhou Jiaozi Office was established. The system of Huizi and Jiaozi was modeled on the "flying cash" of the Tang dynasty (History of Song, vol. 181).
- In the eleventh month of the first year of Tiansheng (1023), the Yizhou Jiaozi Office was established (Long Draft of the Comprehensive Mirror for Aid in Government, Continued, Topical Compendium, vol. 45).
- Ten strings of small cash weighed sixty-five jin. The handlers are referred to as "over 100,000 powerful households," which contradicts the History of Song (Factual History of the Song Dynasty, vol. 15).
