Claims Supported by This Source

  1. His father was a commodity trader and money changer who supplied the Prince of Hesse with coins for his collection.
  2. In 1757, he apprenticed under Jacob Wolf Oppenheimer at the Simon Wolf Oppenheimer bank in Hanover.
  3. His trade in old coins gained him princely clients and expanded into financial services for Crown Prince Wilhelm.
  4. In 1769, he received the title of Court Agent. The Crown Prince became Wilhelm IX, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel in 1785.
