Claims Supported by This Source

  1. Edict of Pepin (c. 754/55): 22 solidi from one pound.
  2. Council of Frankfurt (794): a new denarius of full weight, pure silver, bearing the king's name.
  3. One pound = 20 solidi = 240 denarii is an inference from the edict of 792/93; no royal law directly stipulating this survives. The Carolingian pound was approximately 408 g.
