- An exchange rate is the ratio at which different currencies are exchanged in the foreign exchange market. Under a floating exchange rate system, it is determined by the balance of supply and demand in the market.
- The yen exchange rate reported in the news is usually the rate for interbank transactions. The rate for "customer transactions," such as currency exchange or foreign currency deposits by individuals at banks, is at the retail level and is different from this.
How to read the verification levels. "Read Through" means the source was read in its entirety. "Bibliography & Abstract Read" means the bibliographic information and abstract were confirmed.
