1 Won Brass Coin

This is one of the 1, 5, and 10 Won coins that began to be issued on August 16, 1966; the one pictured is dated 1967. The small brass disc is inscribed with "THE BANK OF KOREA" in English on the value side, and "One Won" in Hangul on the flower side. The Won, which was introduced as paper currency in 1962, took on a tangible metallic form for the first time.
