A 5 fun copper coin dated the 504th year of the Joseon dynasty (1895). The New Monetary Ordinance established a system of silver, cupronickel, copper, and brass coins. The 5 fun copper coin served as a small denomination. Daily small payments transitioned from holed cash coins to Western-style round coins.
