An akçe from the reign of Murad II, in the first half of the 15th century. This is a substantial, white silver coin from before the century of debasement. A crack from when it was struck remains on the reverse. Because the digital cutout process turned this crack into a hole, this specimen was archived as a photograph with its background intact (when processing misrepresents the actual object, the processing is abandoned).
