A 1000 Kronen banknote from 1902. At the time of its issue, it was a note of the highest denomination, valuable enough to buy a house. However, after the Great War, the money supply swelled from 12 billion Kronen in 1920 to approximately 147 billion Kronen by the end of 1921. This peacetime treasure was reduced to paper for daily shopping amidst hyperinflation—while its face value remained unchanged.
