A large silver coin struck in the valley of Saint Joachim. The obverse depicts a standing figure of Saint Joachim, from whom the valley takes its name, while the reverse shows the Bohemian lion. The long name of this silver coin was shortened to Thaler, beginning a nominal journey that led through daler and daalder to the dollar. The birthplace of the name for the world's key currency lies on this very coin.
