1 Rupee of Hyderabad
AH 1335 (circa 1917) ・ silver ・ 20th century ・ Princely State of Hyderabad

A one rupee silver coin of the Princely State of Hyderabad, dated AH 1335, under Nizam Osman Ali Khan. Though located within British India, this princely state issued its own currency in its own name. It was called the Osmania Rupee and traded at a different exchange rate from the British Indian Rupee. The governance of the subcontinent was not uniform. It was a complex mix of directly ruled territories and princely states, and these boundaries were reflected directly on the coinage.
