A silver ruble struck as a pattern in 1825 in the name of Constantine, who was expected to succeed to the imperial throne. The succession passed to his younger brother Nicholas, and this silver coin was never officially issued, with only a very small number of patterns remaining. Housed in the Hermitage Museum. The photograph shows the side with the eagle and denomination——the portrait of the emperor who never reigned is on the other side.
