A 15 Ducati gold coin of King Ferdinand I of the Two Sicilies, 1818. Pictured is the obverse with the king's head and the legend REGNI SICILIARVM ET HIER. REX. Photographed at an exhibition of the Staatliche Münzsammlung in Munich. In March 1821, the Austrian army entered the kingdom and occupied Naples in support of this king. The archive calls it a new business opportunity, and it was Carl who was sent. He went to negotiate the Neapolitan public loan and in the same year established the fifth house, de Rothschild e Figli. The amount and terms of the loan are not recorded in the copy. This is a gold coin bearing the name of the king with whom the negotiations were held.
