- 3-year fixed, 5-year fixed, and 10-year floating rate bonds are offered monthly (12 times a year). An account for government bonds at a financial institution is required for purchase.
- Can be transferred or inherited in units of 10,000 yen, starting from 10,000 yen.
- A 20.315% tax is levied on the interest at the time of receipt.
- Even if the financial institution where the account is held fails, the government guarantees the payment of principal and interest.
- Besides those for individuals, 2-, 5-, and 10-year coupon-bearing government bonds can be purchased through the new over-the-counter sales method.
