  1. 3-year fixed, 5-year fixed, and 10-year floating rate bonds are offered monthly (12 times a year). An account for government bonds at a financial institution is required for purchase.
  2. Can be transferred or inherited in units of 10,000 yen, starting from 10,000 yen.
  3. A 20.315% tax is levied on the interest at the time of receipt.
  4. Even if the financial institution where the account is held fails, the government guarantees the payment of principal and interest.
  5. Besides those for individuals, 2-, 5-, and 10-year coupon-bearing government bonds can be purchased through the new over-the-counter sales method.
