- The annual exclusion is $19,000 per donee for both 2025 and 2026. Even if you give $19,000 to each of your children, the exclusion applies to each gift.
- Each spouse has their own exclusion, so a couple can give $38,000 per donee (in 2025 and 2026).
- Under a law enacted on 4 July 2025 (Public Law 119-21), the basic exclusion amount for 2026 is $15,000,000.
- For small gifts within the annual exclusion, professional help is often not needed.
How to read the verification levels. "Read Through" means the source was read in its entirety. "Bibliography & Abstract Read" means the bibliographic information and abstract were confirmed.
